This Beko dishwasher model is a freestanding dishwasher which comes available in the 3 main colours, which are white, silver and black. Now this dishwasher is actually very decently priced coming in at an estimated £230. The main features of this Beko dishwasher model are:

Even with the drying of the dishes, as stated in the manual, the dishes should be left for up to 15 or 30 minutes so they can cool down. Hot dishes and utensils can produce vapour. There are various reasons for problems that occur however one good point to say is that many have had great customer service in replacing or getting features fixed.

Overall this is a good dishwasher with high ratings for both efficiency and drying, of course few negatives for the drying though. All of these ingredients we are using to make cleaning powder and even if they do say they are natural they should not be inhaled or ingested. Equipment

As far as the equipment goes for making the recipe you do not need much. What you will need is measuring cups or spoons, a bowl or container big enough to fit the mixture.

Creating the Detergent

The method of creating the recipe is all pretty much straight forward. It simply consists of measuring each ingredient, placing them into a container and mixing them all up together. So the measurements:

Borax – 1 cup
Washing Soda – 1 cup
Kosher Salt – 1/4 of a cup
Citric Acid – 1/8 of a cup

Add all of the measurements into a bowl and mix them together, ideally just place them straight into the bowl you will keep the mixture in. And before you know it you have made your very own homemade dishwasher detergent!

When using the detergent simply put one tablespoon of the mixture into the tablet comportment where you would insert pre-made dishwasher tablets.

Items to Point Out

Now before you go and make the recipe there are something to mention before you make it:

Firstly there are many similar recipes for this detergent and all can actually be working recipes that have probably worked for at least one person out there. However you need to experiment for yourself! If you try this recipe and it works for you a few times then great keep at it and don’t change it unless you think you can make it better.

Secondly problems can occur because everyone is using with different dishwashers that all may be using different water types! Depending on your area you may have soft water or hard water in which may need the recipe to be adjusted slightly. In the video below you will see a very similar recipe which actually uses baking soda also…this is to combat the hard water source that they have. So maybe that recipe will work better. Apart from water this recipe may just not work for you so try adjusting it on putting a little more research on the homemade dishwasher detergent.

Thirdly the ingredients can be substituted like the salt mentioned earlier but also the citric acid can be replaced a non sweetened drink mix such as lemonade. Now if you wish to have more fragrance to the dishwasher you can use essential oils which will give a nice smell to your dishwasher but this is optional so experiment!

Fourthly to remind you that even though these ingredients may say they are all natural they do contain some negative points when ingesting or inhaling whether they be very minimal negatives or not and always keep out of reach of children!

From some previous customer experiences they see the prices of dishwasher tablets are too expensive which points them towards the cheaper range. The important aspect here is how they not only clean your dishes but also keep your dishwasher clean and protected. By using the cheapest selection of dishwasher tablets you may be causing damage to your dishwasher! These tablets may contain sand which may harm dishes and your dishwasher…However it is all about trial and error along with researching and knowing the contents of the tablets. Importantly there is also at times mix up with 3 in 1 tablets…these tablets do contain salt, rinse aid and dishwasher cleaner. However even though they contain dishwasher salt you still need to add salt to your dishwasher! This is because the water softener requires salt to maximize efficiency and when the salt is in the tablet it does not get to the water softener. 3 in 1 tablets are more effective in cleaning and rinse aid is not required if you have 3 in 1 dishwasher tablets.

One of the best dishwashers for energy efficiency is this brand of Whirlpool dishwasher. This dishwasher gives a great energy rating of A++ that will help you cut down on costs saving you money. Of course that’s not the only advantage as it has many features:

Power jets at the back to give extra addition to cleaning those tough stains
8 programmes! Including a great hygienic wash that will add an extra antibacterial wash to rid those germs
Quiet….Lovely peace and quiet
Spacious interior and giving a 13 place setting with adjustable racks

As you can see above this make has a jet feature which differentiates it from some other brands giving it that advantage of getting those grubby pots and dishes an extra hit of water to clean them.

The only negatives we have seen with this model are really minor…The cutlery basket for starters or should I say baskets as there is two are positioned right at the front beside each other in which we have found can be a little irritating having to reach over them all the time but can be solved by removing one or both! The tablets have been experienced to stick once or twice so there is some detergent left over although this is actually common in many dishwashers…

So you can see there are only the minor issues but overall this ADP8693APC6SWH whirlpool dishwasher does the job by providing a great energy efficiency dishwasher providing a quiet atmosphere as it runs.

The SMS53E22GB Bosch Dishwasher from their Exxcel range. This dishwasher may be a little more up market from some other Bosch dishwasher models but from that it manages to score a higher overall rating. Some of its main features:

It has A++ performance rating!
The drying performance is rated at A
Limits water consumption only using 10 Liters
Load sensor that detect your placed items and can control the cycle speed and water levels accordingly
Quiet when running, some say too quiet, they even have to check to ensure it is running!
5 Programmes to wash at: Intensive 70 °C, Auto 45-65 °C, Economy 50 °C, Quick Wash 45 °C and Pre Rinse

Like some other models was cycles seem to be a little long and unfortunately some of these cycles are the same although still contains the quick wash programme for a quick 30 minute wash. Also with this model comes the speed perfect option that actually can cut down some cycle time so is an improvement from some previous Bosch Dishwasher models.

Downfalls; Well the supplied manual is not the best with “ok” instructions, but some features are not explained as good as they could be. The cost makes it a bit of a decision on its own due to more competitive dishwashers around that are cheaper. However it is from Bosch which holds a high rating for performance and lifespan. No half load features seems to have been implemented in this model so a slight energy saver feature has been lost there too.

Overall the SMS53E22GB Bosch dishwasher offers a great energy saving model with extra features although it has lost some features such as half load. The biggest problem with this Bosch dishwasher would be the price as this can be a big factor when considering purchasing this appliance.

This Bosch dishwasher is part of their classixx range that promises to deliver the clean, high build quality that Bosch has produced in their previous dishwashers. Some of its main features:

Makes use of only 12 Litres of water
Half load energy saver, with this feature you can save even more energy when you half fill the dishwasher
Load sensor that detect your placed items and can control the cycle speed and water levels accordingly
Quiet…we all love quiet appliances

So far so good, with good energy saving features…but surely there is negatives? Yes this Bosch dishwasher comes with 4 programme features, Pre-Rinse, Normal (65°), Eco (50°) and Quick Wash (45°). So the downfalls, for starters the times compared to other dishwashers the cycle times are long except for the quick wash. The cycle times are 30 minutes, 2.5 hours and 3.25 hours! Of course at least there is the quick wash right? Well using the quick wash has proven for some not to be great for washing or drying, it doesn’t seem to wash real dirty items or grease off of all items and won’t dry them properly but is suitable for those not so dirty items.

Overall this is a good energy efficient dishwasher and of course there will be the downfalls but in comparison to its energy efficiency, quiet noise levels and other features such as load sensors overall this Bosch Dishwasher delivers. Just know if you want a fast dishwasher to clean properly dirty, greasy items at a fast speed other than a couple hours then looking elsewhere may be more beneficial!
